Florence says: Stay Home
I have lived in London last years. Some months ago I came back to my country, temporarily, to recover from one year of hospital admissions.
One night, my husband took me to A&E at St Thomas Hospital because I had an emergency. That night I was admitted in the hospital. They saved my life, and they realized that I had a serious condition. They started a lot of tests to solve the mystery. They gave me the correct diagnosis and my life has changed a lot since then.
The human quality of the doctors was amazing, and their clinical knowledge was incredible. The lovely nurses took care of me every time.
I will always be grateful to all my doctors and nurses at St Thomas Hospital and at Guy’s Hospital, especially to the Chest Clinic and Rheumatology staff.
And to the Royal Free Hospital, who took care of me in every asthma attack.
And also to the Neurology doctor in Queen’s Square, in the Autonomic Unit.
I am aware of the importance of a public health system, and also of the importance of the clinical research.
In Spain we also have a public health system, so I really understand the great value of public health.
I hope one day I will come back to London. Meanwhile, Stay Home. Protect the NHS. Save Lives.
I wanted to make a tribute to Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing. I never heard about her until I arrived to London. This year nurses were going to celebrate her bicentenary. 200 th years of the Lady of the Lamp. Instead of that, nurses, and doctors, and all staff in hospitals around the world, are fighting to save us in this pandemic year risking their lives.
Thank you all.
Thank you NHS.
